Getting Here

By Ferry:

BC Ferries offers regular service from Powell River to Texada, with eight return trips daily. Check the schedule here.

From Vancouver Island:

Take the Comox ferry to Powell River, then board the ferry from the same terminal to Blubber Bay on Texada.

From Vancouver/Lower Mainland:

If you depart on the first morning ferry from Horseshoe Bay, you’ll arrive at Blubber Bay on Texada at approximately 1:30 pm. The journey consists of three legs:

1. Horseshoe Bay to Langdale: The crossing takes 40 minutes, and food service is available on board. View the schedule here. This route can be reserved.

2. Langdale to Saltery Bay: Drive approximately 1.25 to 1.5 hours to Earl’s Cove, then ferry to Saltery Bay for a 50-minute crossing. View the schedule here. This route cannot be reserved.

3. Powell River to Texada: Drive from Saltery Bay to Powell River (about 30 minutes), then take the final ferry to Blubber Bay on Texada Island. The crossing takes 35 minutes. View the schedule here. This route cannot be reserved.

By Private Boat:

Limited protected guest moorage is available at the Sturt (Marble) Bay boat harbour in Van Anda on the northeast coast of the island. A government dock with a tie-up float is located in Van Anda near the Texada Market. Boat launch facilities can be found at Shelter Point Park and Sturt Bay boat harbour.

By Air:

Texada/Gillies Bay Airport is a public VFR airport with a 3,000-foot asphalt runway (elevation 303 feet). The facility is located mid-island at 4482 Airport Road in Gillies Bay and offers amenities including washroom facilities, bicycles to borrow, and camping with firepit and picnic tables.

By Transit:

BC Transit operates a bus from Powell River to Texada Island Tuesdays and Thursdays. Route 13 services Blubber Bay, Van Anda, Gillies Bay and Shelter Point picking up passengers and taking them to Powell River and back in the afternoon. For schedule information visit here.
